The start of 2020 has seen Viyella create a new piece of history.
The Viyella Shirt has been famous for its high quality and longevity for over 125 years. This year, we have expanded our Collection of men’s shirts by adding a new contemporary ‘Tailored Fit’ option to our offering. This is the first time since the Company was founded in 1784 that the Viyella brand has offered a full collection of ‘Tailored Fit’ shirts. We have called it the ‘1784 Collection’.
This latest incarnation of Viyella stays true to our heritage in terms of its quality of yarn and unique weaving process, resulting in a depth of colour without equal in the market. The new ‘1784 Collection’ is a blend of 80% cotton and 20% wool, and offers a slimmer silhouette throughout the body, shorter in length to reflect current trends, with narrower sleeve and softer collar shapes to include a cutaway and button-down option.
We hope the Collection will introduce Viyella to a new customer base both Home and Abroad, with the design of the Shirt definitely aimed to meet demand from our European Customers who have expressed a long-standing wish for a slimmer, more fitted shirt whilst maintaining the classic British style for which Viyella is famous.
We launched the new Autumn/Winter Collection in January 2020 at Pitti Uomo, the foremost International Menswear Show that takes place bianually in Florence, Italy and we were delighted that the new Collection was very well received by our European Wholesale Partners and that multiple orders were placed during the show.
News of our Collection spread, with Feature Writers from Industry bible Drapers dropping by and subsequently reporting on the exciting developments at Viyella, in addition to new fashion magazine Boutique running an article.
The Export & UK Sales Teams are now busy introducing the ‘1784 Collection’ to the Market, in readiness for an August/September 2020 delivery, where it will effortlessly sit alongside our new Collection of classic ‘Traditional Fit’ Viyella shirts.
